The Howard & Jackie Bryce Memorial Award

I am very pleased to announce the founding of the Howard & Jackie Bryce Memorial Award.

This is an annual award, and was established to honour the memory of Howard and Jackie Bryce, as well as to recognize individuals within our community that embrace the same ideals that they did during their lives. Each recipient of this honour will be someone adjudged to have demonstrated exemplary dedication in the fields of volunteerism and charity. In each year, the winner of the award will be an individual who displays the highest degree of compassion for those that are most in need, and who continually gives of their time in attempting to correct this imbalance, with no expectation of acknowledgement or repayment in return.

The award carries a cash prize of $250, which the winner will donate to the charity of their choice, in memory of Howard and Jackie Bryce. The winner will be presented with a commemorative plaque as a memento of their achievement.

We will accept nominations from the five schools, individuals or any other organization that deems an individual worthy of consideration.

Rules governing the Memorial award are currently being drawn up, as well as an application form together with the criteria for applying. These documents will be circulated shortly. The first award will be for the calendar year 2009. We are in the process of assembling a panel to judge the nominations.

Plans are in place to have Cliff (Howie) Bryce present the first award.
